The picking robot performs image processing through an embedded industrial control machine installed with algorithm software to obtain the ripeness status and position information of the fruit. Further, in the control system, an embedded industrial control computer according to the input program sends a command signal to the driving system and the actuator manipulator to perform the specified function of walking and picking.

Fruit picking is the most time-consuming and laborious part of the agricultural production chain. Picking operations are highly seasonal, labor-intensive, and costly. The role of the picking robot is to reduce the labor intensity and production costs of workers, improve productivity and product quality, and ensure timely harvesting of agricultural products. The picking robot consists of a manipulator, an end effector, a vision sensor, and a moving mechanism. Because the growth position of the fruit is not regular, the picking target is easily blocked by the branches and leaves. The harvest requires a large range of manipulator movement and can avoid obstacles. Currently, there is a multi-degree-of-freedom picking robot that can form a designated picking attitude for picking.


The robot uses a color industrial camera as a visual sensor to find and identify mature fruits, and uses vision to locate the target. The moving mechanism uses a front-drive four-wheel structure that can move between ridges on its own. When picking, the moving mechanism walks a certain distance for image acquisition, and uses the vision system to detect the position information of the fruit relative to the coordinate system of the manipulator to determine whether the fruit is within the harvest range. If it can be harvested, the manipulator approaches the fruit. After holding the fruit with a suction cup, grasp the fruit with a mechanical finger. Finally, the manipulator unscrews the fruit by rotating the wrist joint.
